I Think that's a Pod of Whales!

Have you ever wondered what to call young lions at the zoo? (cubs) Or, perhaps you'd like to know what those sweet little chickens are called? (chicks) - This visual dictionary of animals provides the correct terms for animal male, female, children and groups.

The photos are very nice, but the vocabulary is fantastic! I once wrote a list for my advanced students, but there were some terms (such as a female kangaroo) even I (a native speaker) didn’t know. It’s still a bit lacking (cattle–yearling, heifer, steer, ox), and it includes neither names of sounds (moo, crow, meow, bark, etc.) nor the kinds of meat domestic animals produce (beef, veal, etc.). It is also missing at least one essential animal–the pig (boar, sow, pig/piglet, herd).
I’ll still give it a 10!

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your feedback. I’ll try to fill out the dictionary other vocabulary soon.
