The ELVIS Competition - No, Not THAT Elvis!

Wednesday September 10, 2008
I love the king of rock 'n roll as much as anyone, but this ELVIS competition stands for: English Language Videos by International Students. The competition is held by SpokenSkills and I had the honor of judging the finalists for the past competition (the ESL Oscars). Students introduced a famous entertainment personality they admired and performed a selection - usually a short scene from a film, but also some singing. This first competition had over ninety participants from five schools.

The ELVIS competition begins this month. The competition is free for participating schools with SpokenSkills providing teacher feedback. There will also be prizes awarded to schools with winning student entries. If you are a teacher, you might want to take a look at this activity for some in-class fun!
