English is the Language of Business, but Americans aren't Fluent<

This is a great article by Peter Krouse for Newhouse News Service that focuses on Global English, and the fact that many native English speakers (not only Americans, as far as I'm concerned) speak English that is too difficult for most ESL speakers. In other words, the German businessman understands the Japanese businesswoman, but when they speak to an American there are real communication problems. Do you think that's crazy? Well, just consider our use of idioms and phrasal verbs. Global English is an article I wrote making suggestions for teaching based on Global English needs, rather than standard British or American English.
