Definition: unite; come together for fighting, unite and work together; focus a group's energies

Explanation: Used when speaking about special efforts made by a group of people uniting to conquer a problem that all face.

Examples: We closed ranks and solved the dispute in a week. - It's time for us to close ranks and go to battle.
