ENG - What does ENG mean?

Definition: ENG is a language code which refers to the English language. Specifically, eng is used in ISO 639-2. Eng is a three leter code and refers to the English language. Eng is an example of one of 464 three-letter language codes used to identify languages. The use of eng is especially useful for sites that are in many languages. Eng, however, is not necessarily used on most sites whose default language is English.

Examples:
Eng is used by the Library of Congress as an alpha-3 code. For example: English / English / anglais /eng / en - In this series, 'English' refers to the English name of the language, 'English' refers to all English names, 'Anglai' refers to all French names, 'eng' refers to ISO 636-2, and 'en refers to ISO 639-1.
