YouTube in the Classroom!

Tuesday July 29, 2008
Sites such as YouTube provide English learners and classes with a new tool to improve listening skills. The real advantage to these sites - at least from a language learning point of view - is that they offer authentic examples of everyday English used by everyday people. Of course, this is the challenge as well. Here is a lesson plan to help you and your students take advantage of YouTube in the classroom.

Great idea.I think it’s a powerful tool. But it would be great if we could find especially deloped videos. I mean, real English but easy English. I guess some teachers are thinking about it.

Hi,

I’m afraid the site doesn’t offer any certificates. All the materials are for self-study purposes.

Youtube is a great tool for teaching english. I’m an english teacher in Caracas, Venezuela and often use content published in youtube by OpenEnglish.com. Check it out in this URL: http://www.youtube.com/user/openenglishtv
I hope you find it as useful as me, kids really enjoy this type of classes with new methods, it’s easier to catch their attention this way.

YouTube maybe a nice source for people who improve their English. Some videos are really useful for ESL/EFL learners, but many of them are not.
Is somewhere an adviser which videos one EFL learner must see?
It would be very nice to create smth. like “YouTube Video of the Day”.
