Definition: the closed end of a road or an impasse; at the end of a situation without a solution

Explanation: Used when speaking literally or figuratively about a situation or position that can not continue forward.

Examples: The discussion came to a dead end when the subject of payment was introduced. - We came to a dead end and had to turn around and go back the way we had come.
